Melita Molobane Mohlala is the founder and CEO of Kopano Creative Concepts (KCC). She is a seasoned entrepreneur whose business acumen has proven to be a force to be reckoned with.
Despite having studied Education and holding both a Bachelors and Honours Degree in that discipline, Melita chose to take the plunge into the male dominated and notoriously difficult industry of construction. She joined the sector in 2001 by forming Kopano Creative Concepts.
Melita defied all the odds faced by women in the construction sector and decided to prove that her entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic and unshakeable resilience should overshadow one’s gender.
Originally having fairly humble beginnings as a reupholstering business, Melita became aware of opportunities that were being made available to female, black entrepreneurs in the field of construction and set out to transform KCC from that very reupholstering business to a fully fledged construction company. She ensured that she not only took advantage of the exciting new prospects that women were being exposed to, but was also determined to form a company that would deliver tangible results and establish and uphold an excellent reputation in the world of construction.
Melita’s hard work, perseverance and willingness to take risks are the qualities that have seen her emerge as a formidable businesswoman. She aspires to motivate others, particularly other women, to pursue their ambitions despite the seemingly insurmountable odds that they may face.
